VILLAGE OF BARNEVELD BOARD MEETING

  1. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Mike Peterson. Public Notice had been given and agenda's were available.

  2. ROLL CALL: Jim Nelson, Lori Parks, Jim Owens, Steve Deal, Greg Clerkin and Mike Peterson Absent: John Nechkash

  3. Pledge of Allegiance

  4. Motion by J Owens/S Deal to approve the minutes of the June 2nd, 2008 Board Meeting. Motion carried.

  5. No informal public comment

  6. The Village Board recognized Lois Arneson for many years of service to the Barneveld Public Library and congratulated her on her upcoming retirement

  7. Deb Kabler, Library Director appeared before the Board with an update on the Barneveld Public Library. Usage is up 20% over last year. A grant from United Way for $1200 was received. The Library has 4 new computers.

  8. Motion by S Deal/L Parks to award the bid for the 2008 Public Works projects to Scott Construction. Motion carried.

  9. Chuck Bongard, MSA, appeared before the Board to discuss Community Block Grant Application. 27 letters were returned and a minimum of 29 are needed to pursue the grant. Reminder letters will be sent out to recipients in hope of more returns.

  10. Motion by J Nelson/J Owens to approve the application for the Lake Sudy Grant completed by Agrecol. Motion carried.

  11. Motion by S Deal/G Clerkin to approve Resolution 08-05 to request grant funding and assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources under the Lake Management Planning Grant Program. Motion carried.

  12. Jay Bennett, Johnson Block & Company reviewed the 2007 Audit with the Board.

  13. Motion by J Nelson/L Parks to approve Operator's License for Tonya Pagel and Amber Brabender for Stop-N-Go. Motion carried.

  14. Motion by S Deal/J Owens to approve a Picnic License for the Barneveld Brigham Fire Department for August 15th & 16th. Motion approved.

  15. Motion by G Clerkin/J Nelson to approve Resolution 08-06 Establishing the Snow Removal Fees for the Village of Barneveld at $100.00 per hour. Motion carried.

  16. The Board discussed the annual Spring clean up. Village employees to determine plan to continue clean up with out residents abusing load sizes at a great cost to the Village. Possible charges for each load or for second or larger loads.

  19. Board reviewed Harvest Market letter to Village.

  20. Motion by S Deal/J Nelson to approve bills as presented. Motion carried.

  21. Future agenda items and business. The Dodgeville Chronicle will no longer be sending someone to the Village Board meetings. Clerk will check with Todd if OK to send in brief write ups after meeting. The Board still feels that Birch Lake is still too wet from water damage to be rented out at this time.
